Police in Baku disperse action of "Azadlyg" opposition block
Today, police in Baku have again dispersed an action of protest of "Azadlyg" (Freedom) block, which was held with a demand of freedom of assembly, democratic parliamentary elections to be held on November 7 and consideration of Azerbaijan national interests at the negotiations on the Karabakh conflict settlement.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that, starting from the morning today, all central squares and parks in Baku have been monitored by police in case the venue of the action is changed.
At the last moment, the opposition members have shifted the action of protest from the Baku town hall to the area in front of the Puppet Theatre on Primorski Avenue. The additional police forces hastily dispatched there started to disperse about 80-100 opposition members chanting the slogans "Freedom!", "Free elections!".
About 30 participants have been detained. One of the police officers in command of the action dispersal motivates it by the fact that the action has not been allowed.
