17 explosions were triggered in Kabardino-Balkaria during 50 days

Operative agents of the FSB (Federal Security Bureau) believe that they have established a potential organizer of the explosions at the Baksan Hydraulic Power Plant (HPP) in Kabardino-Balkaria committed on July 21. According to their data, this is one of militants' leaders, whose name is not disclosed in the interests of the investigation.

In recent months, the situation in Kabardino-Balkaria has noticeably aggravated. By estimates of the "Caucasian Knot", only in the period from June 1 to July 20 at least 17 explosions and 8 bombardments of power agencies were committed in the territory of Kabardino-Balkaria, as a result of which 6 power agents were killed and 10 more were wounded.

At the same time, MIA employees liquidated one militant and detained five more. Besides, less than during two months 13 explosives were neutralized. In the course of armed opposition in the republic two civilian were lost and five more were wounded.

The Russian National Anti-Terror Committee notes that the circle of suspects who attacked and blew up the Baksan HPP has been established. The basic version of the explosions at the HPP is a terror act, as reported by the RIA "Novosti" with reference to a source in power agencies of Kabardino-Balkaria.
