One casualty and two wounded militiamen in Kabardino-Balkaria

According to local law enforcement bodies, a suspected member of a bandit formation was liquidated in Stary Cherek village in the Urvan District; two militiamen were injured.

"Last night, in the course of search actions, militiamen saw a suspicious car in the centre of Stary Cherek, on which they had preliminary data. In response to militiamen's requirement to present documents, unknown persons opened fire from inside the car," said the source.

The spokesman of local law enforcement bodies has stated that "in the course of the skirmish one of the attackers was liquidated, and two militiamen were wounded. According to the source, one criminal managed to disappear and is now searched.

"The liquidated gangster was identified as a local resident involved in committing a range of terrorist crimes, including the shelling of the Urvan UVD (Interior District) and attack on militiamen," the "Interfax-South" quotes the source.
