Orthodox church in Ingushetia fired upon from a grenade launcher
In the evening of January, 2, unidentified people fired upon the building of an Orthodox church in the stanitsa of Orjonikidzevskaya. There were no victims.
"At about 21:30 Moscow time unidentified people fired upon the building of Pokrov Cathedral in Pionerskaya street of the stanitsa of Orjonikidzevskaya. As a result the building got an insignificant material damage", law enforcement bodies of Sunzha district reported.
None of the congregation or churchmen were injured, "Interfax" reports.
As "Caucasian Knot" has formerly reported, at night of November, 22, an unidentified person fired upon the roof of a church in Orjonikidzevskaya in Ingushetia from a grenade launcher. On November, 9, a dome of an Orthodox church in the same stanitsa was injured by firing.
Incidents of this kind with churches have taken place in other regions of North-Caucasian Federal Okrug, too. For instance, on November, 1, 2010, unknown people set fire to three Orthodox churches in the town of Karachaevsk and the stanitsa of Orjonikidzevskaya. The versions include evil design aimed at fomentation of international and inter-confessional discord. On June, 21, an arson of the church of Evangelist Baptist Christians "New Life" also took place in Karachaevsk.
