According to indirect evidences, Dokku Umarov, leader of the "Imarat Kavkaz", is most likely alive, said Anatoly Safonov, special representative of the Russian President for matters of international cooperation in combating terrorism and organized crime.

"Unfortunately, so far, there are no official confirmations. As far as I know, the necessary medical examinations and other procedures are not yet over, but under some indirect data he is sooner alive than dead," said Safonov in his interview to the Russia Today TV Channel in answer to a reporter's question on whether Umarov had been killed.

The Internet resources of North-Caucasian militants did not confirm the death of Umarov. According to their data, Dokku Umarov could not suffer in the course of the special operation in the Sunzha District of Ingushetia, because he was in some other place.
