Adbashyan: Stepanakert Airport is ready by 80 percent

In Nagorno-Karabakh, the construction of the Stepanakert Airport is nearing its completion - it is ready to make flights by 80 percent, said Dmitry Adbashyan, Head of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) under the Government of Nagorno-Karabakh.

"According to our plans, the runway, pyrones and taxiways will be covered by additional layer of asphalt; besides, the runway will be broadened up to respective requirements and regulations. It will all take about a month, maybe more," said Atbashyan.

The head of the CAA also said that "for ensuring flight safety, the Stepanakert Airport is equipped with the most advanced equipment."

Arthur Karapetyan, Director of the Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) "Stepanakert Airport", said that this year the airport would surely be opened." We have already recruited the administrative and operating staff of the airport; employees are already performing their functions. The full-day staff of the airport is about 100 persons," said Karapetyan.
