A non-governmental Constitutional Committee demanded independent investigation of the details of dispersal of the oppositional action

A non-governmental Constitutional Committee of Georgia consisting of ex-judges, experts and practicing lawyers considers it necessary to from an independent investigative committee that will undertake investigation of the events connected with dispersal of the unauthorized oppositional meeting at night of May, 26, by members of the top brass. 

This decision was taken at an extraordinary session of the Committee on June, 2. 

"An independent and impartial investigation is able to carry out its function, i.e. make up a deficiency of trust and objectivity existing in a great part of our community", a statement of the Committee runs.

At the same time it was emphasized that the work of the Committee and independent investigation would make sense only in case if they met the criteria of impartiality, professionalism and high level of trust.
