Azerbaijani oppositional editor states threats addressed to his family

Ganimat Zakhid, the editor of the Azerbaijani opposition newspaper "Azadlyg", was forced to take his family out of the country "because of security threats." The editor informed his colleagues about it in his letter.

In the past two months, the editor and his family were taking their medical treatment in Turkey; from there, they moved to some European country.

He said in his letter that his children were threatened and attacked by strangers.

Mr Zakhid found the threats real. According to his story, a well-informed source told him that "certain power circles had decided to punish him for his publications on corruption and criminal ties of government members," writes the edition named "Contact Online News".
