The Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan has confirmed the indictment on the criminal case against seven residents of Dagestan, who, according to the investigators, put groceries, cafes and other sale outlets in the city of Makhachkala, where they sold alcohol, on fire. The criminal case files have been sent to the Supreme Court of Dagestan, the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation reports.

According to investigators, in 2010, Alibeg Abunazarov, a resident of the republic, organized in Makhachkala an illegal armed formation (IAF), which committed arsons of pubs and groceries selling alcoholic beverages. It was established that Alibeg Abunazarov had appointed Ilyas Medjidov to be a leader of a group; and the latter involved several more persons - Ali Shapiev, Asker Magomedov, Ali Sultanov, Maxim Davydov, Marat Musaev, Magomed Saipudinov and others.

As established by the investigation, after the death of Abunazarov in September 2010, Ilyas Medjidov took his place and appointed Ali Shapiev to be a grouping leader; at the same time, they both were in command of the grouping, worked out plans of criminal activity, managed the execution of crimes and supplied firearms and ammunition to their gangsters.

The investigators found out that in the period from 2010 to March 2011, the grouping led by Medjidov and Shapiev committed three armed robberies, nine arsons of groceries, cafes and pubs, two murders and other crimes.

Shapiev and Medjidov are accused of organizing an IAF and banditry; the other five defendants are accused of involvement in IAF, banditry, murders combined with banditry, robberies and infliction of grave bodily injuries, intentional destruction of other people's property, illegal trafficking in arms and manufacture of explosives, the ITAR-TASS reports.

At present, Medjidov, Shapiev, Magomedov, Sultanov, Davydov, and Musaev are arrested; Saipudinov remains under recognizance not to leave, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
