Association of Russian Diplomats deputy chairman: parties of Karabakh conflict are in deadlock

Vladimir Kazimirov, deputy chairman of the Association of Russian Diplomats, notes in his article published simultaneously in the Baku newspaper Echo and Karabakh newspaper Azat Artsakh that despite the fact that a long-standing standstill in the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict have been explained by the inconvenience of the pre-election climate in Armenia and Azerbaijan for the last years, no ray of hope can be seen after the elections too. "The meeting in Geneva gave the two presidents the chance only to make the acquaintance of each other, but it is hard to believe their next meetings will be fruitful," Mr. Kazimirov writes. In his opinion, the Armenians and Azerbaijanians are in the deadlock of antagonism they have created themselves.

"To make progress in the resolution of the conflict, the parties should abandon all the unrealizable": the Armenians should abandon their demands to resolve the Karabakh problem by the ways that imply the independence of Nagorny Karabakh or its joining Armenia, the Azerbaijanians should do their regular threats to settle the conflict by force, holds the ambassador.
