Special Representative of UN Secretary-General in Georgia and CIS Peacekeeping Forces Commander discuss situation in zone of Georgian-Abkhazian conflict

Heidi Tagliavini met with the Abkhazian leadership on January 12 and discussed prospects for the process of negotiations between Georgia and Abkhazia. The same day she visited the headquarters of the CIS Peacekeeping Forces in the zone of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict.

"During the meeting with General Aleksandr Yevteev, Heidi Tagliavini emphasized the important role of the Russian peacekeeping force in the cause of keeping peace in the zone of the conflict between Georgia and Abkhazia," CIS Peacekeeping Forces press secretary Sergey Isayev said to journalists.
