Police failure to detain suspect of Sulim Yamadaev's murder is actively discussed in Russian blogosphere
In Moscow, a waiter of the restaurant "Sheikh's Treasure" found a pistol. It was revealed that the pistol belonged to Zelimkhan Mazaev, who was put in international wanted list by the United Arab Emirates for the murder of Sulim Yamadaev, Hero of Russia. However, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Zelimkhan Mazaev is not listed in the Russian wanted lists. This was reported by a source from the law enforcement bodies.
This topic is being actively discussed in the "LiveJournal" of Alexei Navalny. Till present, over 1270 comments have been posted under the post about Zelimkhan Mazaev.
"The restaurant staff members phoned the police and reported that a pistol was found. Investigators who arrived at the place found a Stechkin pistol and took it with them. And later, several Chechen natives came to the restaurant, declared that they had left a pistol and demanded its immediate return," said a source in the secret services of the Russian Federation.
The investigation revealed that one of the visitors was a 30-year-old Zelimkhan Mazaev, who claimed that he legally possessed the handgun, the "Rosbalt" reports.
"For to certain reasons," said the source, "Chechen natives were not detained, Mazaev promised to bring the necessary documents soon; however, he never returned. At present, the Stechkin pistol has been registered as found in the restaurant, and no criminal case has been initiated. The investigation revealed that Mazaev had not been put in wanted list and that he temporarily lived in Moscow for a year," stated the source from the law enforcement bodies.
"What does it mean? For some reasons, armed Chechen militants enjoy immunity from the jurisdiction of the law enforcement agencies throughout Russia. Anyone who believes it to be wrong is treated as an extremist. And after all that, some people are surprised by aggressive slogans at Russian Marches," famous blogger Alexei Navalny writes at his "LiveJournal", commenting on the news about Zelimkhan Mazaev.
The majority of LJ users shared the Navalny's opinion and expressed their indignation by the fact that the man, who had been put in the international wanted list, quietly lived in Moscow, forgot the handgun in the restaurant and the police let him go.
However, there is another point of view.
"Well, it's unofficial information. You never know who talks," the user "alfa212" has stressed.
