Four persons perished as a result of an explosion in a vessel

Four people perished and one got wounded as a result of an explosion in a vessel standing at a dock of Bakinskaya bay in the settlement of Zykh, Press secretary of State Nautical Administration of Azerbaijan (SNAA) Er-Salam Aliev reported.

“According to preliminary data, the explosion was caused by gas-welding works. The public will be provided with a detailed information on the results of investigation and aftermath of the explosion”, Press secretary of SNAA said in his interview to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

He found it difficult to answer the question about the function of the vessel. “These questions are being clarified. According to preliminary data, the vessel belonged to Kazakhstan and was written off as scrap metal”, the representative of SNAA said.

There are about ten docks in the above mentioned place of Bakinskaya bay where mostly ships of the Caspian oil fleet belonging to state oil company SOCAR are based, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent reports.
