In Astrakhan Region, soldier perishes at military training ground "Ashuluk"

A regular soldier died under the wheels of a military vehicle at the military training ground "Ashuluk" in the Astrakhan Region.

According to a source in the law enforcement agencies of the Southern Military District, early this morning, in the territory of the tent camp, military men formed a motor transport column for delivery of ammunition to the site for their destruction.

"A driver started an Ural vehicle and removed the parking brake; however, he lost control and the vehicle rolled back. At that time, a soldier passed by there, he did not notice the vehicle, and it overrode him," said the source. He said that the deceased soldier was born in 1990.

Natif Gadjimetov, the official representative of the District Military Prosecutor's Office, confirmed the fact of the soldier's death, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

In regard to the incident, the Military Prosecutor's Office of the Caspian flotilla conducts investigation into the fact of compliance of the actions of the military training ground's commanders with the legislation on life safety of personnel, the "Radio Freedom" reports.
