Yerevan Mayoralty launches project on improvement of Mashtots Park

In the capital of Armenia, in the park near Mashtots Avenue, the Mayoralty initiated works on improvement of the park.

According to the project, both intermediate sides of the park will have broad paved alleys with trees and green areas planted in rows. The park will has benches and litter bins. Besides, the entire park territory will be equipped with night lighting. This was announced by the Department for Information and Public Relations of the Yerevan Mayoralty.

At present, in the park, the works on installing an irrigation system and the preparatory works on gardening and planting flowers are conducted. According to Armenak Dovlatyan, Chairman of the Green Party, earlier, the park has never had an irrigation system.

According to Lala Aslikyan, the activist of an NGO, the park has already been equipped with "the civil platform", from which representatives of Armenian NGO deliver their speeches.

"It is very important for us to have public places, where people could speak freely and to lead discussions on various topics,'' Lala Aslikyan has noted.

The park also hosts exhibitions of works of artists and photographers, concerts of bards and rock bands well-known in Armenia.
