Dagestan commissions first North-Caucasian energy-efficient houses

Today, in the cities of Kaspiisk and Izberbash, 130 families received keys to their flats in the energy-efficient apartment blocks, for the first time built in Northern Caucasus within the framework of the federal programme aimed to resettle people from shabby housing.

The houses are specific, as their energy efficiency is ensured by solar cells, used to warm up water. For heating the flats in winter, thermal pumps are used. Automatic switches are used to illuminate the doorways and surrounding territory. According to Magomedsalam Magomedov, the head of Dagestan, all these innovations will reduce the tenants' utility bills almost by a factor of three.

"For many years we lived in an old hostel built back in Soviet time. Now, we move into a new home," Madina Abakarova, a resident of Kaspiisk, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Many people in Europe would envy you today: they want to live in such houses," said Konstantin Tsitsin, Director General of the State Corporation "Assistance Fund to Communal Reform", addressing the resettlers.

The second energy-efficient house was opened on March 24 in Izberbash, where 36 families moved from their previous emergency housing.

  • Religion experts explain motives for militants’ attacks on synagogue and temple in Dagestan
