Two new medical centers put into operation in Dagestan

On March, 27, opening of neurology and neurosurgery unit of Republican hospital No 2 and a new line of orthopedic and traumatology center equipped with techniques of the latest generation was held.

The neurology and neurosurgery unit will allow to receive about one hundred patients at a time. There is a resuscitation unit there equipped according to the latest achievements in medical techniques, including oxygen respiratory systems and video cameras.

So, relatives of gravely ill persons in the resuscitation unit will be able to contact their people online, Kazanfar Kurvanov, Head doctor of Republican hospital No 2, said.

The new orthopedic and traumatology center receives patients injured in road accidents and also people with gunshot wounds and victims of terror. The unit has all the modern equipment, Head doctor of the center Magomed Omarov told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

“While in the past there were 10 patients in one ward we now have comfortable wards for 2 to 4 persons”, Omarov reported.

Head of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov who was present at both opening ceremonies asked the doctors and nurses what kind of problems they encountered in their work.

The medics said in reply that they were dissatisfied with their poor wages. One of the doctors told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that with his twenty-years length of medical experience he had a salary of about only 8 thousand rubles.

“We are aware of this problem and this year we are going to raise the wages significantly, i.e. by 20-25 per cent for this improvement to be noticeable”, Head of Dagestan said.
