The authorities of the Russian Federation allowed sand recovery in Anapa district to “Kroton” company, the ecologists state

The Government of the Russian Federation confirmed the right of “Kroton” limited company of recovery of 20 ton sand in the Black sea shelf opposite the health resort of Anapa, representatives of “Environmental Watch on North Caucasus” state.

In April of 2011 Association of non-governmental organizations “Renaissance of Taman” appealed to Prime Minister of Russia Putin asking him to disaffirm the order of sand recovery in the water area of the Black sea, along the coast of Krasnodar region, between Anapa and cape Zhelezny Rog. The community and authorities of Anapa also objected to sand recovery in the above mentioned area.

According to the ecologists, on February, 22, Putin signed an order sanctioning the right of “Scientific production association “Kroton” limited company of recovery of 20 ton sand. This emerged from a letter received by Anapa Regional Health Resort Association (ARHRA) from the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, representatives of “Environmental Watch on North Caucasus” state.

“The Ministry of Natural Resources in its official letter to ARHRA tries to reassure the owners of the sanatoriums of Anapa stating that a state environmental expertize on the project of sand recovery would be carried out and “in case of a negative expert opinion concerning the design documentation implementation of the project will be impossible”. However, there is little chance for the interests of high rank officials are behind the “sand” project”, a press release by “Environmental Watch” received by the “Caucasian Knot” editorial board runs.

The “Caucasian Knot” has yet no comments from the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia or representatives of “Scientific production association “Kroton” limited company concerning the statements of “Environmental Watch on North Caucasus”.
