In Dagestan, relatives of journalist Magomedov report his detention by power agents

On March 17 in Makhachkala, law enforcers detained journalist Kamil Magomedov, who worked for the newspaper "Svobodnaya Respublika" (Free Republic), his wife Savdat Mikailova has reported.

"Kamil left home on March 13 and said that he went to work. Then he called and said that he was going on a business trip to some mountain district, but did not specify to what particular one. On March 16, he called me and said that in two hours he would be in the city, but would not come home. In the morning on March 17 my nephew went to the store and did not return for a long time. I saw that he was walking towards the house, but did not come home. At this time I also noticed that our house was surrounded," says Savdat Mikailova.

According to her story, then she called her husband and told him about the disappearance of the nephew, and that our house was surrounded by power agents. Kamil Magomedov, according to the woman, during the conversation at once promised to come home.

"It was our last conversation. On March 17 our house was searched. And on the same day it became known that Kamil is kept at the IVS (temporary detention facility)," said the wife of the journalist.

An employee of the IVS has confirmed that Kamil Magomedov was kept at their facility since March 17, said Zagidat Magomedova, his mother.

According to a source from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan, on March 17 the house of Kamil Magomedov was searched within a criminal case.

An advocate is allowed to see the detained journalist; however, the lawyer Murad Magomedov has flatly refuses to comment on the case. "It is run by the FSB, and the case is secret; and I'm not authorized to give any comments on the case," the lawyer said in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
