Stash: 50 persons come to Kabardino-Balkaria from Syria

About 50 persons have arrived in Kabardino-Balkaria from Syria. Currently, the repatriates are filing their documents for temporary residence, said Akhmad Stash, the head of the NGO "Peryt" engaged in helping compatriots to repatriate and accommodate in the land of their ancestors.

"The republic has received about 50 immigrants from Syria; of them 30 people live in the 'Druzhba' Sanatorium; and the rest – with their friends and relatives," said Akhmad Stash.

According to his story, all the repatriates were granted business visas. "Someone of them has already managed to apply for a temporary residence permit, some others have not yet. This is a very time-consuming process – they need to gather documents and take medical tests," said the head of the "Peryt".

"Those who come to us receive their one-year visas; however, during this period the one-time stay in Russia is limited to 90 days; that is, after 90 days of stay they must leave Russia. Meanwhile, they not always manage to get their temporary residence permits within these 90 days," Mr Stash has stated.

"We had planned to come back to homeland, but not so urgently, as we had a lot of things to complete there. Events in Syria have accelerated our return," said Biberd Tleuzh, one of the returnees.

Mr Tleuzh came with his family: he has three children of preschool age. He is a programmer by his profession. "After obtaining my temporary residence permit, I plan to find a job, buy a house and start living anew," he said.

"I plan to start my business – production of plastic products," said another repatriate Tambi Duguzh, a father of two children.

Visam Tkharkakh came with his mother-pensioner. He is a builder by trade, engaged in renovated premises in the European style.

Speaking about the situation in Syria, the returnees have noted that the state does not control the situation. "We think that mass exodus from the country is possible," Mr Tkharkakh has concluded.

  • Lawyers doubt prospect of bills banning religious clothes

The bills that intend to ban wearing religious clothing, including niqabs, in public places are causing a split in the society, which is especially negative amid the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. Religious clothes are not widespread in the country, this issue is not relevant, therefore the bills to ban them will not be adopted, lawyers believe.
