Volgograd Region: six residents of Uzbekistan fall into septic tank, one died

Six residents from Uzbekistan, who worked at a private agrarian farm in the Volgograd Region, fell into a sewage septic tank. As a result, one of them died.

The incident occurred on April 2 around 11:00 p.m., in the workers' settlement Krasnooktiabrskiy, in the territory of the former swine-breeding farm. Six citizens of Uzbekistan, while walking around after work, happened to get into the sewage tank.

The pit was filled with sediments to the depth of 2.5-3 meters, the RIA "Novosti" reports referring to Natalia Kunitskaya, a representative of the regional Investigatory Department of the ICRF.

One of the victims fell into the pit, the others rushed to save him and also found themselves there. "As a result of the incident, all six were hospitalized; however, one of the victims could not be saved, and he died," the "Interfax" quotes a source from the law enforcement bodies of the Volgograd Region.

The condition of two victims is assessed by doctors as extremely grave; doctors are fighting for their lives. They were brought to hospital with toxic pulmonary oedema, respiratory failure and poisoning with unknown gases.

All the victims have permits to work in the Volgograd Region, the local police said.
