Athlete from Karachay-Cherkessia wins European Cup in judo

The athlete from Karachay-Cherkessia Arsen Pshmakhov has won the Cup of Europe in judo, which was held in Sarajevo on March 31 and April 1, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Ministry of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of Karachay-Cherkessia.

"The competition was attended by 300 athletes from 20 countries. The national Russian team was successful with seven medals securing the first team place. Arsen Pshmakhov was wrestling in the 81-kg category and contributed with his victory to the team's triumph," said the spokesman from the Ministry.

Arsen Pshmakhov is a graduate of the Republic's Judo School of Olympic Reserve, an international-class master of sports, a winner of the World Cup, and a bronze medallist of the Super Cup and Grand Prix. The athlete is coached by his father Ayub Pshmakhov – the merited coach of Russia in judo.

The successful performance of Pshmakhov gave him the right to participate in the European Championships to be held in late April in Chelyabinsk. Now, the athlete is on the judo training camp in Venice.
