Mother of Judge Dmitry Novikov from Sochi postpones series of pickets by one month

In Moscow, Tamara Novikova, the mother and defender of Judge Dmitry Novikov, has stopped holding pickets for the time of consideration of her appeal by the Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Russian Government.

Tamara Novikova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on April 2 an employee of the public reception office of the Government of the Russian federation explained that her application and documents had been officially accepted, and about a month will be needed to carefully study the problem of the conflict in the judicial community of the Krasnodar Territory.

She said that she hade given to the above reception office all the documents that explain the reasons for the persecution of her son. The courts of the Krasnodar Territory had passed "criminal" verdicts, in her assessment, for which they are now trying to convict Dmitry Novikov.

Tamara Novikova has added that she agreed to wait for the outcomes of consideration of her application and suspend her pickets.

"The main point is to have an independent and impartial investigation into the true reasons of my son's persecutions, and to check the facts of corruption in power bodies of Sochi and the territory," said Novikova, adding that her son pointed to these violations starting since 2006.
