NAC: four militants liquidated in special operation in Nalchik suburb

Law enforcers of Kabardino-Balkaria have killed – in the course of a special operation, conducted in the outskirts of Nalchik, the village of Khasanya, – four suspected militants.

According to the information received from the Department of the FSB for Kabardino-Balkaria, in the course of the counterterrorist operation (CTO) conducted by special units-members of the Republic's Operative Headquarters of the Russian NAC (National Antiterrorist Committee), two houses, where supposed militants were hiding, were blocked.

When one of the houses was being blocked, according to the NAC, a militant tried to break through and threw a grenade at special agents – he was killed by return fire.

"In the other household, special agents blocked a group of active members of the armed underground. Prior to the active phase of the special operation, experts began negotiations; however, the bandits rendered armed resistance and were liquidated," added the source from the press service of the above FSB Department.

Currently, the suspected militants are being identified. According to preliminary data, they were active members of the bandit underground: Akhmadya Malkarov, 42, who had been on the international search list; brothers Timur and Murat Khamukov; and their accomplice and informant Arthur Ulbashev, 29.
