Check of Cherkesov's beating in Krasnoyarsk SIZO extended by a month

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by the lawyer Igor Kuznetsov, one of the advocates of Aslan Cherkesov, a native of Nalchik, who was convicted for murdering the football fan Yegor Sviridov, that advocates have no results of the check of the fact of beating their client at the Krasnoyarsk SIZO (pre-trial prison); the check was extended by one month.

"I have no results of the check; and nobody has sent an official response to me. The only thing I know is that the check of Aslan Cherkesov's beating was extended by another month," said the lawyer.

He explained that under the order of the head of the division on making a check, it was supposed to end 10 days after the complaint was filed by Cherkesov's defence.

The information about the extension of the check of Cherkesov's beating was confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent at the press service of the Chief Department of the Russian FSIN for the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Igor Kuznetsov has also said that at the present Aslan Cherkesov is serving his term in another penitentiary institution.

"On March 30, my client was transferred to Penal Colony No. 17 of the FSIN Department for the Krasnoyarsk Territory; it is calm there, and the attitude to the inmate has changed and became positive. The position of Cherkesov's advocates and relatives is as follows: we want nobody's blood; the main point is to stop the unlawful actions against Aslan Cherkesov ended," said Kuznetsov.

According to his story, Cherkesov himself, whom he visited on April 3, is still in quarantine.

The lawyer has also explained that Cherkesov's advocates in Moscow are studying the legality of his transportation to the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
