During the week of April 2-8, 28 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

At least 28 persons suffered in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus in the period of April 2-8: 22 persons were killed and 6 wounded. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot", based on own materials and information from other public sources.

The number of the deceased persons includes 3 law enforcers: two were killed in Dagestan, and one in Kabardino-Balkaria. Six persons were wounded: four in Ingushetia, two in Kabardino-Balkaria. 18 suspected members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) were killed: seven in Dagestan, six in Kabardino-Balkaria, and five in Ingushetia. One civilian was killed in Dagestan.

One should understand that the above statistics cannot reflect with absolute accuracy the number of victims in each of the identified categories of the survey. Not all the data gets into news reports, and it is not always possible to verify the reliability of statements made by law enforcement bodies.

Attacks on law enforcers

In the evening of April 2, in the village of Islamei of the Baksan District of Kabardino-Balkaria, two unidentified persons shelled a policeman, who died in place from the wounds. The attack occurred when the 33-year-old district police inspector was sitting in a car with his friends. The other passengers were not injured.

On April 6, in the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, near the village of Bairamaul, a district police inspector was shelled. The policeman Arslanali Askhabov died in place from the wounds. A civilian passenger, who was in a car with the policeman, was severely injured. The resident of the village of Bairamaul was taken to hospital, where he later died. The attackers stole service weapon of the district police inspector and fled in a VAZ-2114 car; the car was found burned down in several kilometres from the place of the incident.

Armed clashes

On April, in Dagestan, in the Sergokala District, near the village of Kadyrkent, armed clash between power agents and suspected members of IAFs occurred. Three suspected militants were killed; later they were identified as Rashid Gazaliev, a native of Kazakhstan, an active IAF member, Magomed Gazaliev, a cousin of Gazaliev, an accomplice of the members of the IAFs, and Salman Budaichiev (under Islamic name Khuzeifa), who put into the federal wanted list for participation in IAFs.

On April 3, also in the Sergokala District of Dagestan, a group of suspected militants was blocked, and three of them were killed. Besides, one soldier of the Ministry of Interior Affairs (MIA) of the Russian Federation was killed. The identities of all six militants killed during the special operation held on April 2-4 in Dagestan, were established: all of them, according to operative information, were members of the Sergokala grouping. This was reported by the law enforcement bodies.

On April 3, in Nazran, in Oskanov Street, during the special operation, five suspected militants were killed. An explosive device was found in the car belonging to the deceased people, and the car exploded at mine cleaning. One of the casualties was preliminary identified as a 23-year-old Salman Gardanov. There was a woman among the liquidated militants. According to the NAC (National Antiterrorist Committee), the explosions experts from the Russian FSB found on the bodies of two killed persons, a man and a woman, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), the so-called "suicide bomber's belts", the IEDs were installed in such manner that they could not be neutralized by the militants themselves.

Relatives of the killed woman claim her innocence. The leader of Ingushetia took investigation into the circumstances of her death under his personal control. According to power agencies, the casualties were identified as Salman Gardanov, Shamsudin Gardanov, Djuneid Gardanov, Salaudin Muruzhev, and Zina Velkhieva.

Special operations, CTO

On April 4, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the village of Khasanya, a suburb of Nalchik. During the special operation, Arthur Ulbashev, hiding in a private house, who was locked in that private house, was killed. In response to the offer to surrender, he opened fire and was killed during a fire fight. One power agent was wounded. Special measures were also conducted in Kalabekov Street in Nalchik, where, according to operative information, several other militants rendered armed resistance.

In total, four suspected militants were killed. They were preliminary identified as Akhmadya Malkarov, an IAF member, who had been on the international wanted list, and Arthur Ulbashev and brothers Timur and Murat Khamukov. Upon completion of special operation, the operational headquarters in Kabardino-Balkaria cancelled the CTO regime.

At night on April 6, during the special operation in Nalchik, power agents killed two suspected militants. At night in an apartment in Musukaev Street in Nalchik, a group of people was blocked, who rendered armed resistance in response to the offer to surrender. As a result of shooting, two blocked persons were killed, none of power agents suffered. The casualties were identified as Alibek Pshigaushev and Azamat Kansaev, who, according to investigators, on April 5 committed an armed attack on a police lieutenant. As a result, the police officer has got knife wounds, and currently he remains in hospital in serious condition.

On April 8, in Dagestan a suspected IAF member was killed during the special operation held in Khasavyurt. Law enforcement agents were not wounded. According to power agents, the casualty was identified as Said Goitiev, a local resident.

Explosions, terror acts, explosive devices

On April 5, four police officers suffered as a result of bombing of a police patrol car in the city of Malgobek. The bomb was planted on the roadside and exploded when the police car was close. Power of explosive device was about 20 kilograms of TNT. The names of the casualties are known; they are Islam Tsechoev, Islam Barkinkhoev, Magomed Fargiev, and Magomed-Bashir Khadizev. Two of them were contused, and the condition of other two wounded men is assessed as severe.

On April 2, in North Ossetia, a hiding with ammunition was found. The hiding contained five magnetic mines, two moderators to them, thirteen detonators, a grenade F-1, a 400-gram TNT block, and 146 7.62-mm rounds.

At night on April 3, an explosion occurred near kalian cafe in Makhachkala, nobody was injured.

On April 4, in Ingushetia, police officers from the Sunzha ROVD (District Interior Division) found and destroyed a hiding with ammunition to grenade launcher. The hiding was found at a distance of 600 meters from the highway Berd-Yurt-Chemulga of the Sunzha District.

In Grozny, Chechen law enforcement agents found a hiding of militants with weapons and ammunition. The camouflaged hiding was found in the territory of the cemetery in the October District.

Power agents found in Nalchik the largest hiding with ammunition discovered recently; the hiding contained two improvised bombs with total capacity of about six kilograms in TNT equivalent.

On April 5, in the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, law enforcement agents found two blindages, one of which contained five bombs with total capacity of 25 kilograms in TNT equivalent.

Detentions

In the south-west of Chechnya, republic's law enforcement agents detained a local resident, who, according to operative information, tried to sell an automatic Stechkin pistol (ASP).

In the south of Chechnya, law enforcement agents detained a local resident suspected of aiding militants. Besides, in Grozny, police arrested a young man who, according to power agents, intended to join the IAF.

In the evening of April 6, in Ingushetia, a grenade launcher, a machine gun and ammunition were found in the course of the inspection of a car on a checkpoint of the highway "Kavkaz" (the intersection of Karabulak-Yandare). Two local residents, who were in the car, were detained.

Kidnappings and disappearances

In Makhachkala, unidentified persons kidnapped Allakhverdi Radjabov. According to relatives, law enforcement agents were involved in the kidnapping. Officials from the law enforcement agencies of Dagestan stated that Allakhverdi Radjabov was not detained and that he was not a figurant in any criminal cases.

On March 29, in the town of Tyrnyauz of Kabardino-Balkaria, under unascertained circumstances, Alim Etezov, a 20-year-old local resident, disappeared, and till present, his relatives know nothing of his fate. Officials from the Tyrnyauz city police station confirmed the fact that relatives filed a complaint about disappearance of the young man.
