Criminal case instituted on kidnapping of Rustam Aushev, resident of Ingushetia

Investigators instituted a criminal case on the fact of kidnapping of Ruslan Aushev, a resident of Ingushetia, in the city of Mineralnye Vody of the Stavropol Territory.

According to the message of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", on February 17, Rustam Aushev was kidnapped in the city of Mineralnye Vody. Rustam Aushev arrived from Nazran to Mineralnye Vody, and he was to take a train to the Belarusian city of Brest. He intended to go to his sister to Belgium; however, he was seized by unidentified people, allegedly power agents, and driven away to some unknown destination.

Investigator Shushanyan examined the materials of inspection. On April 2, the Mineralovodsky Investigatory Division on Transport of the Southern Investigatory Department on Transport of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) instituted a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Kidnapping of a person".

According to the HRC "Memorial", on February 19, relatives of Rustam Aushev filed a complaint on his disappearance to the law enforcement agencies. On February 20, Asya Albakova, the wife of Rustam Aushev, appealed to the Prosecutor's Office of Ingushetia, the Republic's Security Council, and human rights organizations for help in locating her husband's whereabouts.

On March 13, lawyer Magomed Gandaur-Egi appealed to the representative office of the HRC "Memorial" in Nazran to determine the location of whereabouts of his client.

However, as of April 11, 2012, whereabouts of Rustam Aushev has not been located.
