Over one thousand former residents of Chechnya came to celebrate Easter in the republic

On April, 15, Orthodox residents of Chechnya celebrated Easter. This year over one thousand people came from the neighbouring regions for the holiday.

"This year over one thousand people, our former fellow citizens, who now reside in other regions of the country came to celebrate Easter in our republic. They were provided with the best facilities. In Grozny and other towns and district centers where Christian cemeteries are located free motor transport was available. Part of the guests were provided with free hotel accommodation. Celebration of the Orthodox Easter passed off at a high level, without any incidents", a representative of the Apparat of Head of Chechnya and the Government said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Most of the former residents of Chechnya who came to the republic stayed with their relatives and friends. According to an official of the Administration of Grozny, one hundred people were provided with free accommodation in the hotel and motor transport to visit the six Christian cemeteries located within the city boundaries.

A ceremonial Easter service was held that day in Michael Archangel temple. On the eve of the holiday Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov congratulated all the Orthodox residents of the republic on the occasion of Easter.

All in all, Chechnya numbers 50 Orthodox cemeteries. Since the first days of April community work days were carried out for cleaning the territory and arranging the monuments over the graves. Besides, on the eve of Easter the personnel of law enforcement bodies started guarding the Christian cemeteries round the clock.
