On April 9-15, 23 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

At least 23 persons suffered in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus during the week from April 9 to April 15. Of these, fifteen persons were killed and eight more wounded. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll includes five law enforcers: two in Dagestan, and one in Kabardino-Balkaria, Chechnya and Karachay-Cherkessia each. At least four power agents were wounded: two in Karachay-Cherkessia, and one in Ingushetia and Chechnya each. Ten suspected members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) were killed: nine in the Stavropol Territory and one in Karachay-Cherkessia. Four civilians were wounded, all in Dagestan.

Attacks on law enforcers

The employee of the Nalchik UVD (Interior Division), who was attacked in the evening on April 5, died on April 9 in the hospital.

In the evening on April 9, in the village of Marukha, Karachay-Cherkessia, a detainee, who was transported for questioning, managed to snatch a pistol from one of his guards and opened fire. As a result, an FSB officer was killed, two other power agents were wounded; the attacker was also killed. He was a local resident Soltan Gappoev, earlier accused under several articles, including involvement in the armed underground.

At night on April 10, in the village of Achikulak, Neftekumsk District of the Stavropol Territory, power agents were fired upon, when tried to stop a car for a check. The return fire killed four men who were in the car. The car was burned. In the course of inspecting the car, power agents found a submachine gun and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs). According to the FSB, the casualties, who were identified, had been preparing terror acts.

On April 10, in Ingushetia, Bashir Tumgoev, 30, a policeman from the road patrol service and a resident of the village of Surkhakhi, Nazran District, received a gunshot wound in his leg in a fight with some unidentified person.

In Makhachkala, an identified person shot dead - in a fixed route taxi - a serviceman of the Interior Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Russian Federation.

Special operations

One policeman was killed and another one wounded during a skirmish on April 8, which burst out between a police unit of the MIA of the Chechen Republic and a grouping of suspected militants in the forest located on the administrative border between Chechnya and Ingushetia. Local law enforcement bodies have no information about possible losses among militants.

On April 10, in the course of a special operation, undertaken in the city of Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol Territory, five persons, regarded by power agents as members of the armed underground, were killed. The armed clash burst out at No. 18 Zheleznodorozhnaya Street, on the fourth floor of an apartment building. There were no losses among the population and power agents; the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the city.

On April 12, in the vicinity of the villages of Arshty, Alkun and Dattykh, Sunzha District of Ingushetia, power agents blocked suspected IAF members, whose number, according to preliminary data, was 7-10 persons. So far, there is no data about the outcomes of the special operation.

On April 9, the Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov said that there was no data about involvement of Salahhuddin Buruzhev, Zina Velkhieva and Shamsudin Gardanov, who were killed on April 3 in the course of a special operation in Nazran, in the armed underground.

Attacks on civilians

In the evening on April 10 in Makhachkala, unidentified persons planted an explosive device near the house of the Chairman of the City Court of Khasavyurt. The explosion injured a woman and a child living in the house - the wife of the judge and their one-year-old grandson. Under the main version of the investigation, the explosion was caused by the service activities of the judge.

On April 12, Gadjimurad Abdullaev, Assistant Prosecutor of the Lenin District of the city was killed in Makhachkala.

Explosions and terror acts

An explosion occurred on April 15 at a store in the centre of Makhachkala and injured two female students of the Dagestan State University.

Detentions

On April 8 in Khasavyurt, policemen arrested a 32-year-old resident of the city, who, according to operative data, is an accomplice of Said Gotiev, an IAF member, liquidated on April 8.

On April 10 in Pyatigorsk, a helper of the militants, who were preparing terror acts in the Stavropol Territory, was detained.

On April 12 in North Ossetia, in the course of a special operation, a group of arms dealers, who supplied weapons to IAFs in Northern Caucasus, was arrested.
