Dagestan: relatives of the teen wounded by policeman ask Magomedov to supervise the inquiry

Relatives of the 16-year-old boy from the village of Karata, Akhvakh District of Dagestan, who was wounded by a policeman on 16 March and who is in coma since, do not believe in the proper objectivity at the investigation into the crime by local authorities. They report about attempts of pressure on the investigators, participants and witnesses to the incident and ask the leadership of Dagestan and Russia's power bosses to take the inquiry of the case under their control.

Let us remind you that the tragedy happened on April 16 at night. A local resident has reported that the policeman named Zaur Djalilov opened fire to kill from his service pistol at young guys who staged a fight against each other. A bullet got into the head of a 16-year-old resident of Karata; he was urgently hospitalized. The policeman was detained.

Wounded boy is in deep coma

Khaibulah Rokhoev, a physician from the resuscitation ward of the Akhvakh Central District Hospital, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the patient was in extremely grave condition.

"He is in deep coma; his breathing is supported by mechanical ventilation; and the proper work of his cardiovascular system is ensured only by drugs. It's difficult to predict the outcome, but we need to understand that it was a through wound; and the stem of the brain was partially affected and," said the doctor.

Relatives ask Magomedov to take investigation under control to avoid "mass actions of civil disobedience"

A criminal case against Djalilov under the article of "infliction of serious bodily injury by negligence caused by improper performance of one's professional duties", was initiated two days later, on April 18.

Today, relatives of the wounded boy have addressed in writing the Russia's Public Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika, the Chairman of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) Alexander Bastrykin, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia Rashid Nurgaliev and the president of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov, asking them to take the inquiry under their personal control.

Denga Misirbekov, one of the signatories of the letter, told the "Caucasian Knot" that he did not believe in the proper objectivity in the investigation into the crime by local authorities.

"The reason for our worry is in direct interest of the head of the district Ismail Magomedsharipov and the local OVD (Interior Division) boss Musabek Musakaev in the outcome of the case. Attempts are undertaken to directly interfere and press on the participants and witnesses of the crime," said Misirbekov.

According to his story, back in 2007 the same OVD boss, while in a drunken state, opened fire to kill from his service pistol. "Then, fortunately, nobody was hurt, but on April 16 this year, one of Musakaev's subordinates, following the example of his boss, opened fire at young guys, as a result of which Imadibir Makhiev received a head wound. Now he is in coma, and nobody knows whether he will survive," said Misirbekov.

The administration of the Akhvakh District and heads of the OVD refused to give any comments to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, saying that they are not authorized to give comments.

The Senior Sergeant Zaurbek Djalilov, 37, refuses to admit his guilt.

"Both policemen were questioned. The Senior Sergeant Djalilov, who wounded the teenager, has stated that he did not shoot at the boys. He says that he was amidst the crowd of fighters and fired several bullets into the air. Then somebody pushed him; and he made another shot, wounding the teen in the head," said a source from the investigation, as quoted by the "Lifenews.ru".
