Sochi hosts picket against construction of parking lot in Children's Centre territory

On April 19, in Sochi, in No. 26 in Constitution Street, near the Children's Centre, a picket in defence of the territory from the developers was held. The picketers demanded to stop the construction works.

On April 19, the protest action was held during the day from 10:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. According to local residents, the developer of the Limited Liability Company (LLC) "Lotos" has resumed works without permission.

A construction passport, indicating that a construction permit was issued by the city administration, appeared on the fence.

E. Almanov, the representative of the developer, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that in accordance with the permission of the Chief Architect, they would construct at the site, allocated by the administration, a seven-storey building with integral parking lot.

However, the protesters insisted that the developer had no right to build in the territory of the children's centre, since that construction contradicts the law, the safety regulations, and the court decision, which cancelled the tender for the construction of the territory.

The picketers continued their protest action at the city administration. After that, a group of activists went to the office of Oleg Sheveiko, Chief Architect, demanding to cancel his unlawful resolution.

However, according to the representatives of the picketers, Oleg Sheveiko "just disappeared in the corridors of the administration, saying that he had some urgent business and that at the moment he had no time to talk."
