Several regions of Georgia affected by rainfall and landslides

As a result of a heavy rain, which fell in the evening on May 17 in the eastern part of Georgia, a bridge was destroyed, crops were damaged and ground floors of houses were flooded. Three thousand people have power outage. There are no casualties and victims.

The calamity has affected Tbilisi and the regions of Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti. Uchaneishvili Street in the metropolitan district of Bagebi suffered from a landslide that damaged several houses.

The heavy rain has flooded the main street in the city of Rustavi, located near Tbilisi, and cellars and ground floors of several houses.

"Residents of Rustavi could not remember a disaster of such power. After interference of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, all the necessary equipment was mobilized. Thanks to rapid decision-making and cooperative efforts of various services, we managed to avoid casualties," said David Kirkitadze, the governor of Kvemo Kartli region, noting that rescuers and the police patrol worked there all the night.

According to his story, now, the traffic in the main thoroughfare of Rustavi has been restored. As for compensation of the damage, according to the governor, the Mayoralty officials are already working on this issue.

"The Georgian authorities will leave nobody without attention, we'll provide assistance to all," said Kirkitadze.

As to the region of Kakheti, on May 17, a bridge linking the villages of Kachreti and Dzhimiti, Gurjaani District, was destroyed. The heavy rain flooded the ground floors of houses, and the hail destroyed the crops. A special commission is already counting the damage, the "News-Georgia" reports with reference to the TV Company "Imedi".

About three thousand consumers suffer from the power outage there, the "Georgia Online" reports.
