Stavropol hosts picket against pointwise development of historical centre

In Stavropol, more than forty activists of different organizations took part in the protest action against the pointwise development of the historical centre. The protest action was organized by social movement "Protest Committee of Stavropol City".

The protest action was held in front of the administration building in Karl Marx Avenue, the central avenue, in the place, where at present reconstruction and expansion of the summer cafe "Elegy" is underway.

Using adhesive tape, the picketers hung on a metal fence of the facility under construction about two dozen posters with slogans reading: "We will not let cheating! This is a city of the Cross, not a place of deceit!", "City MPs, wake up, tomorrow will be too late!", "Green money is more important than green zones", "Give up five trees and entire alley will be cut down tomorrow!", etc.

The protest action was attended by representatives of regional branches of the "Yabloko" and "Samoderzhavnaya Rossiya" (Monarchic Russia) Political Parties, City Gardeners' Union, the city Cossack Community, and the youth movement "Narodnaya Volya" (People's Will). About ten police officers monitored the public order.
