Moscow: 18 classmates of the detainee after the fight at "Evropeiskiy" TC detained

At an attempt to bring witnesses of the fight at the "Evropeiskiy" Trade Centre (TC) to the investigator, policemen detained 18 students of the Maimonides State Classical Academy. Its Rector states that the students were beaten, while policemen behaved illegally.

In the morning on June 8, the police came to the hostel of the above Academy, where Rizvanov is a student, aiming to find and forcibly bring to the inspector for questioning two suspected participants of the fight.

"In the course of their mission, the policemen encountered an active opposition of a group of citizens living in the hostel in Western Moscow," the All-Russian State TV and Radio Company (known as VGTRK) "Vesti" quoted a source from the Moscow GUVD (Chief Interior Department).

At the hostel, a scuffle burst out, and several policemen were injured. 18 students were detained; all of them are kept at the OVD (Interior Division) "Novoperedelkino", the "Gazeta.ru" reports referring to a law enforcement official.

"The policemen brought to the investigator possible accomplices of a citizen suspected of committing a grave crime. Several policemen were forced to turn to medical institutions for help," the RIA "Novosti" quotes the press service of the GUVD.

The suspects themselves, who were visited by the police, deny any actions against them; Bersan Zaitov, an eyewitness of the incident, asserts that the students only defended themselves against unlawful acts of the OMON (riot police), the "Russian News Service" reports.
