Over 25 people became victims of armed confrontation in Northern Caucasus during the period from June, 4, till June, 10

No less than 25 persons became victims of armed confrontation in Northern Caucasus during the period from June, 4, till June, 10, 2012. 13 out of them perished and 12 got wounded. These are the totals of calculation by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

There are two members of power ministries among those lost, one in Dagestan and the other in Kabardino-Balkaria. 11 supposed participants of paramilitary groups (PMG) were killed: seven in Dagestan and four in KBR. 12 officers of power-wielding structures got wounded: seven in Ingushetia and one in Dagestan.

It should be taken into consideration that the above mentioned statistics cannot be hundred-per-cent precise concerning the number of victims in each of the categories singled out in the survey. News reports do not cover all the data. It is not always possible to verify credibility of statements made by law enforcement bodies.

Assaults at law enforcement personnel

On June, 6, unidentified people in Sunzha district of Ingushetia fired upon a helicopter of the Ministry of Interior Affairs at the moment of takeoff. The "Mi-8" helicopter was fired upon by unknown persons at about 13:30 Moscow time from ambush in the forest not far from the settlement of Datykh. No one was injured.

One policeman perished and another got wounded on June, 6, at the moment of firing upon a car in the settlement of Novo-Sulak of the town of Kizilyurt, Dagestan. Unidentified persons fired from self-firers upon a "VAZ-2109" driven by a policeman with one more police officer in the cabin. Both were taken to Kizilyurt hospital with gunshot wound where police lieutenant Bagaudin Ramazanov later died from wounding. The attackers escaped.

Armed confrontations and special operations

On June, 6, an armed confrontation happened in the micro-district of "Kamauk", in the suburbs of the town of Tyrnyauz, Kabardino-Balkaria, during which a gunman was killed. A gun was found on him. None of the law enforcement officers was injured. The killed man was identified as Evgeny Kotelnikov aged 25, resident of the town of Khadyzhensk, Krasnodar region. According to a version of law enforcement bodies, he was involved in assaults at law enforcement personnel, activation of home-made explosive devices as well as extortion of money from businessmen. The gun found on Evgeny Kotelnikov was stolen on February, 2, 2011, from policeman Azret Unezhev who perished as a result of an armed attack.

On June, 8, a group of people suspected of involvement in armed underground was blocked in a flat of a dwelling house in the town of Yuzhno-Sukhokumsk, Dagestan. A regime of CTO (counter-terrorist operation) was enacted. There are no losses among law enforcement personnel. The killed people were identified, among them Rustam Gasanov, leader of Kizlyar criminal group, and a woman.

On June, 9, policemen carried out target operations of combing the forest in Khiva district of Dagestan.

On June, 10, supposed gunmen were blocked in a dwelling house in the settlement of Shamkhal, the suburbs of Makhachkala. CTO regime was established in the settlement. One suspect of involvement in PMG was killed as a result.

Late at night of June, 9, a car belonging to an officer of Department of Federal Security Service (FSS) of Russia in Baksan district was exploded in the town of Baksan, Kabardino-Balkaria. The officer died in hospital from wounding. During operative and search actions on search for suspects of committing this crime law enforcement personnel detected a group of persons supposedly involved in PMG. During the CTO three gunmen were killed. One of them was identified as Edward Sokurov. Besides, Zhiraslan Guketlov, one of the organizers of an attempt at an officer of FSS, was killed in a special operation in Baksan district. During the operation four policemen got wounded.

Assaults at civilians

On June, 8, the house of Ahmed Kotiev, Secretary of Security Council of Ingushetia, was fired upon by unidentified persons from grenade launchers. There were no victims.

Explosions and acts of terror

On June, 9, seven policemen were injured as a result of an explosion of a home-made explosive device laid on a road adjoining with the "Caucasus" federal highway in the suburbs of the capital of Ingushetia. As a result seven officers of Ingush police got mine-blast traumas.

On June, 4, unknown people exploded two power transmission line supports near the settlement of Ishkarty, Buinaksk district of Dagestan. There were no victims. The third explosive device was defused. Power supply was not disabled.

A home-made explosive device laid at a road border in Ingushetia was blasted by unidentified people on June, 4, the moment when a police car was passing. There were no victims.

A home-made explosive device of three kilograms trotyl equivalent was activated on June, 5, in Nazran. There were no victims or injured persons.

On June, 7, members of power ministries in Ingushetia defused two explosive devices laid at a road border of one of the highways in Ingushetia. One of the bombs exploded at the moment of mine clearing. No one was injured.

Detentions

On June, 4, members of power ministries in Achkhoy-Martan district of Chechnya detained a resident of the settlement of Samashki suspected of rendering aid to participants of armed underground.

On June, 4, a twenty-three-years-old woman who had a federal wanted notice as a participant of armed underground was detained in Urus-Martan district of Chechnya by the personnel of power-wielding structures.

On June, 6, a woman resident of Urus-Martan district was detained by members of power ministries for suspicion of complicity in the activities of armed underground.

Disappearances of people and kidnapping

Relatives of resident of Makhachkala Magomed Rasulov appealed to the police reporting his disappearance. Esmira Ganieva's father in the settlement of Akhty reported disappearance of his daughter.
