In Sochi, mobile groups to combat unauthorized construction stop works at 18 construction sites

During the period of May 30 to June 8, 99 Sochi construction sites were visited by representatives of the mobile groups to stop unauthorized constructions. Following the results of the visits, construction works on 18 sites were suspended. This was reported by Anton Karpinsky, Chief of the Department for Municipal land Control of the Sochi administration.

The mobile groups included bailiffs, officers from the GIBDD (road police), the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), and the Migration Service, officials from the city administration, and staff members from the enterprises "Vodokanal", "Kubanenergo", and "Energosbyt". The visits were conducted in four districts of the city.

According to Anton Karpinski, in the Central District, mobile groups inspected 14 construction sites, and 7 construction projects were suspended. The staff members of the enterprise "Vodokanal" have stopped the supply of water at 6 construction sites, and the power supply has been cut off at 7 construction sites. Bailiffs sealed 7 construction sites. Besides, at construction sites, workers were detained officers from the Federal Migration Service (FMS) completed 17 protocols against 17 persons, and the police officers brought 6 workers to the UVD (Interior Department).

According to the official, in the Khosta District, 10 construction sites were inspected, works at 3 construction sites were stopped, 1 construction site was cut off from the water supply, and 2 construction sites were sealed.

In the Adler District, mobile groups inspected 20 construction sites, 4 of them were suspended. The police officers detained 14 illegal immigrants, and the power engineers cut off the power supply from the 2 construction sites.

In the Lazarevskoe District, 55 construction sites were inspected, and at 4 of them, construction works were stopped.

According to Sergey Kharlanov, Deputy Chief of the Sochi Bailiff Service, since 2011, in Sochi, about 500 "small unauthorized facilities" were demolished.

"Half of them were demolished due to construction of Olympic facilities. Other unauthorized structures have not been legalized by the courts and represent subjects to demolition. Like, for example, about 100 single-storey garages in Makarenko Street," Sergey Kharlanov has emphasized.

"Since 2007, the Bailiff Service has under proceedings 280 court decisions on demolition or seizure. Last year, only one large seven-storey building in Klubnichnaya Street was demolished. However, not always initiated court proceedings can be executed, since decisions of higher courts, cancelling that decisions, and, therefore, initiated executive proceedings, appear," Sergey Kharlanov stated.

According to him, in this year, only two large unauthorized facilities were demolished.
