Alexander Gedjadze: staff member of "Georgian Dream" injured as result of beating

The examination confirmed that Mamuka Kardava, the head of the regional headquarters of the political coalition of businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili "Georgian Dream", was injured as a result of beating. This was stated by Alexander Gedjadze, the head of the independent laboratory "Vector". However, according to lawyers of the coalition "Georgian Dream", the Georgian Prosecutor's Office refuses to reclassify the case.

However, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced that initially, Mamuka Kardava in his conversation with inspector-investigator testified that he got in a road traffic accident. According to the official version, while driving a Ford car, Mamuka Kardava hit a rail post. Later, according to the law enforcement agencies, he stated that he had been beaten by men in masks, who entered his car.

Medical examination of the Mamuka Kardava's health state was organized by human rights NGO "Empathy". Alexander Gedjadze, the head of an independent laboratory "Vector", has been invited as an independent expert, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

"We examined the nature of injuries on the Mamuka Kardava's body and came to the unequivocal conclusion that they could only be obtained as a result of beating," Alexander Gedjadze told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"We instituted a criminal case of beating, since independent experts concluded that the beating took place," emphasized Shota Utiashvili, Chief of the Information and Analytical Department of Georgian MIA.

However, according to representatives of the coalition "Georgian Dream", the Georgian Prosecutor's Office did not take into account the opinion of independent experts and the MIA's position.
