Prosecutor's Offices of Kabardino-Balkaria and Ingushetia restrict access to film "Innocence of Muslims"

The Prosecutor's Offices of Ingushetia and Kabardino-Balkaria announced warnings to the providers of the Internet services to limit users' access to the film "Innocence of Muslims" ("Innocence of Islam").

Let us remind you that a 14-minute trailer of the film "Innocence of Muslims", loaded in the "YouTube", which tells about the life of Prophet Muhammad in an offensive manner, sparked a wave of protests in many Muslim countries.

According to the law enforcement agencies of both republics, the content of the film is aimed at the formation of ideas of the inferiority of the religion and the part of the population, professing it, and that fact indicates a clear extremist direction of the film.

Therefore, to prevent the dissemination of the video film, the Prosecutor's Offices of Ingushetia and the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) have taken measures to ensure that the regional providers of telecommunication services block the users' access to the Internet resources that host the video.

The warnings on the inadmissibility of extremist activity in accordance with Article 6 of the Federal Law "On Combating Extremist Activity" were sent to the addresses of the providers. This was reported by the website of the Prosecutor's Office of Ingushetia.

Besides, in Kabardino-Balkaria, the Prosecutor's Office has also sent instructions on taking similar measures to the regional Prosecutor's Offices of the cities and districts and to the Department of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications ("Roskomnadzor") in the KBR.

In its turn, the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation has appealed to the court with a claim to declare the video film "Innocence of Muslims" an extremist information material. This was reported by the website of the Prosecutor's Office of Kabardino-Balkaria.
