Resident of Ingushetia dies after torture at MIA, his relatives assert

The detainee Timur Toldiev has died at the Malgobek ROVD (District Interior Division) of Ingushetia from torture, said his brother Alikhan Toldiev, a resident of the village of Ekazhevo. He has addressed his application on this occasion to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".

As explained by Timur Akiev, the head of the HRC "Memorial" in the Republic of Ingushetia, that according to the Alikhan Toldiev's application filed on April 2, his brother Timur Toldiev "died at the Malgobek ROVD as a result of torture on March 30."

The application reads that Timur Toldiev, who worked as a private driver, was detained together with two residents of Ekazhevo in Malgobek on March 27, where he had brought them as passengers. The reason for the detention was the fact that fake banknotes were found in the car.

On March 30, early in the morning, an ambulance was called to the detention facility of the ROVD, where doctors registered the death of Timur Toldiev.

"The photos made when relatives were allowed to take Timur Toldiev's body clearly show visible bruises and haematomas. Timur's relatives are sure that he died as a result of torture," said Timur Akiev.
