Stavropol Territory: 13 liberated slaves evidence to investigators
The case files on use of slave labour in the Stavropol Territory of 13 persons have been transferred from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) to the Investigating Division for the city of Georgievsk of the Territorial Investigating Department of the ICRF (Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation). Investigators have already questioned the victims.
As reported by the MIA of the NCFD, the director of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Lysogorskoe" had forcibly held 13 persons, forcing them to do free of charge garbage collection on the streets and work at the farm.
All the 13 persons released from slavery have scratch marks and bruises, but their lives are out of danger, because "they were not beaten to death," Ekaterina Danilova, an assistant to the head of the Territorial Investigating Department of the ICRF, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to her story, the released persons told investigators that they had been held in non-residential premises of the mechanical shop. "For an attempt to escape, people were beaten. Besides, they were put into a metal container," said Danilova.
She added that the director of "Lysogorskoe" was still at large, but investigators planned to initiate a criminal case against him for "use of slave labour" (Article 127.2 of the Russian Criminal Code, which assumes from three to ten years in prison).
