Rabbi Ovadia Isakov wounded in Dagestan discharged from hospital

Rabbi Ovadia Isakov from the Derbent synagogue, who received a severe gunshot wound in the attack on him, was discharged from the hospital in the Israeli city of Petah Tikva, the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia has reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the 40-year-old Rabbi was attacked by an unidentified person at night on July 25 in Derbent. Ovadia Isakov received wound in his chest and fell into coma. In the evening of the same day an aircraft with Israeli physicians arrived in Makhachkala and took the Rabbi to Israel. On July 28, Israeli hospital doctors reported that Ovadia Isakov regained consciousness.

"Friends and relatives of Rabbi Isakov consider his fast recovery a miracle," said the spokesman of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia.

"The anti-Semitic attack, fortunately, failed and didn't scare me and my family. I want to go back to Derbent as soon as possible and continue my duties in the Jewish community," the ITAR-TASS quotes Rabbi Isakov as saying.

Let us remind you that investigators do not rule out that the crime was caused by the religious activities of the Rabbi.
