Residents of Dagestani Kuli District complain to Putin about election violations

On September 22, the village of Kuli held the second election round of the head of the Kuli District of Dagestan. Later, the villagers appealed to the Russian President and the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation, asking to review the results of the elections because of possible falsifications. They have also expressed their distrust to the head of the republic, who, in their opinion, contributed to the re-election of the incumbent district head for the third term.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 8, in Dagestan, the elections were held in 29 districts and four cities Derbent, Izberbash, Kizilyurt, and Khasavyurt. According to the information of the Dagestani Election Commission, in the second round of the election held in the Kuli District of Dagestan, Said Suleimanov won by gaining 50.57% of the votes, and his opponent Azhub Osmanov gained 47.96% of votes.

Supporters of Azhub Osmanov believe that an administrative resource was used at the election.

"We express our indignation about open tyranny and lawlessness that took place during the entire election campaign for two weeks, officials from the presidential administration and from the government of the Republic of Dagestan were busy with pushing forward the candidacy of the former head. Our rights and will of the voters were cynically violated," states the appeal addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Churov, Chairman of the Russian CEC.

Meanwhile, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a representative of the Territorial Election Commission (TEC) of the Kuli District that "no major violations were recorded during the election held on September 22 in the district."
