Three of four defendants in the case of terror act in Domodedovo receive life sentences
Today, the Moscow Regional Court has sentenced four defendants, accused of preparing the terror act committed at the Moscow Domodedovo Airport in January 2011 to prison terms ranging from 10 years to lifelong.
Three of them – Islam Yandiev, his brother Ilez Yandiev and Bashir Khamkhoev – are sentenced to life imprisonment to be served in a special security colony. Akhmed Evloev is sentenced to 10 years in a minimum security colony. The court has also granted the civil lawsuits lodged by the victims for the amounts from 50 to 500 thousand roubles, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
All the defendants, registered as residents in Ingushetia, deny their guilt.
Meanwhile, Vladimir Markin, the spokesman of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), said that investigators continue searching for the customers and other organizers of the terror act at Domodedovo. "At present, the Russia's Federal Security Bureau (FSB) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) are taking active steps to detect and detain Dokku Umarov, Aslan Byutukaev and other persons put on the wanted list in connection with this criminal case," Mr Markin said after announcement of the verdict, as quoted by the "Interfax".
