Makhachkala resident claims being forced by policemen to give DNA assay

Aminat Umarova, a resident of Makhachkala, states that she was visited by policemen, who demanded that she followed them for submitting DNA assay. Aminat Umarova said the arrived policemen introduced themselves as staff members of the Makhachkala UVD (Interior Department).

"Recently, they visited me on June 29; however, on that day, I also refused to go with them. And at present, I will also not go with them, since I am afraid. My husband Ramazan Umarov was taken away by policemen, and I never saw him again," Aminat Umarova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ramadan Umarov, a husband of Aminat Umarova, disappeared in 2007. On June 12, 2012, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) obliged Russia to pay his family members compensation in the amount of 60,000 euros.

This is not the first report of the actions of policemen, who force the residents of the republic to submit DNA samples. Thus, on June 19, Zarema Bagautdinova, a member of the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy) for the Buynaksk District, reported that 23 Buynaksk residents were brought to police station for submitting DNA samples.
