Orthodox Christians in Northern and Southern Caucasus celebrate Christmas
Today, believers of the Russian, Georgian, Jerusalem and Serbian Orthodox Churches celebrate their Christmas. Hundreds of thousands people took part in the services, held at night on January 7 in the temples of the regions and countries of Northern and Southern Caucasus. The events dedicated to the Christmas and planned for the next few days include a large number of charity actions.
Today, Volgograd, apart from Christmas services, held mourning services for the victims of terror acts, the regional edition named "Vsyo Dlya Vas" (All for You) reports. Let us remind you that the region is burying the victims of the tragedy.
Christmas services in Volgograd were held in 10 major temples. After them, the "Christmas Round dance" programme began. In the course of the festivities, pupils of Sunday Schools sang Christmas songs and presented parishioners with figures of angels. The programme included a charity fair, which featured the crafts made by children themselves, the website of the city administration reports.
