Former head of Nazran District of Ingushetia convicted for embezzling Chernobyl benefits

The Magas District Court of Ingushetia has sentenced Aslan Dobriev, the former head of the Nazran District, to four years in prison on charges of a fraud with payments to Chernobyl accident liquidators, the spokesman of the FSB Department for Ingushetia said today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Aslan Dobriev was detained on February 14, 2013, at his workplace; a criminal case of a fraud was opened against him.

According to the above FSB Department, Aslan Dobriev had embezzled, through abuse of his official position, the social benefits established by the Federal Law "On Social Protection of Citizens Exposed to Radiation at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) Accident".

"The total amount of illegally received funds made over 8 million roubles," the "Interfax" quotes its source from the FSB in Ingushetia.

Let us remind you that after Dobriev's detention, a source close to the administration of the Nazran District did not rule out that Dobriev could be prosecuted for his supporting the direct election of the head of Ingushetia.
