Politkovskaya's children demand to collect 5 million roubles from defendants

On May 21, at the Moscow City Court (MCC), the daughter and son of journalist Anna Politkovskaya moved a civil suit against the defendants in the case of killing her mother, demanding compensation of moral harm in the amount of one million roubles from each of them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 20, after four hours of discussion, the jury found all the five defendants guilty and deserving no leniency. On Wednesday, the verdict is discussed by the court.

The above civil suit was accepted by the court to consideration; the decision thereon will be announced during the sentencing.

Let us remind you that Anna Politkovskaya, an observer of the "Novaya Gazeta", who wrote about Northern Caucasus, was killed on October 7, 2006. Four natives of Chechnya and a Moscow ex-militiaman are accused of committing the murder. The defendants refuse to plead guilty, while their defence claims that the state prosecution had failed to prove the motive and to find the customer.
