Refugees living in "Promzhilbaza" find it difficult to rent housing for money allocated by authorities

The administration of the city of Karabulak has demanded from the refugees living in the temporary accommodation centre (TAC) named "Promzhilbaza" to move out until mid-August, said Isiyat Dzaurova, one of the refugees. The Mayor of Karabulak Muslim Yandiev has confirmed the information that the refugees were given time to find some other housing. However, the "Promzhilbaza" residents claim that they cannot rent housing for the money allocated to them by the authorities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that currently 12 families, or 56 persons in total, still live in the "Promzhilbaza".

"People living in 'Promzhilbaza' have nowhere to go. It's unreal to rent housing in Ingushetia for 5000 roubles a month," said Malika Djakhaeva, a resident of the TAC.

According to her story, the "Promzhilbaza" residents have decided – in case they fail to rent housing by the middle of August – to set up a tent camp in a vacant lot, like it was done by refugees in the years of the Chechen armed conflicts.

A source from a realtor company in Ingushetia, who was contacted by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, said that the average rental fee for a studio (one-room flat) in Karabulak or Nazran is 6-7 thousand roubles; for a two-room one – some 10-12 thousand roubles per month.
