Yuri Kokov elected head of the KBR

On Thursday, October 9, 2014, the Parliament of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), unanimously voted for the candidacy of Yuri Kokov, who was nominated for the presidency of the KBR. On the same day, Kokov took the office.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Yuri Kokov was the acting head of the KBR since December 6, 2013, following the resignation of Arsen Kanokov. Kokov was among the three candidates for the post of the head of the KBR, who were brought on September 17 by Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Parliament of the KBR.

The candidacy of Kokov was supported by all the 70 local MPs; the vote was secret, the ITAR-TASS reports.

The inauguration of the head of the KBR will take place at the House of Government of the KBR in Nalchik at 3:00 p.m. Moscow time, the RIA "Kabardino-Balkaria" reports.
