Board of Trustees announces violations during repair in territory of Sochi arboretum (+video)
The Board of Trustees of the Sochi arboretum "Southern Plants" has revealed a number of violations during the inspection of the repair works carried out at the park. However, according to Olga Kozinskaya, the Chair of the Board, the managers of the arboretum fail to listen to the recommendations.
"The biggest and primary problem of the arboretum is in its bogginess, which is largely connected with the facilities erected by the Limited Liability Company (LLC) 'RogSibAl' and houses built close to the borders of the park. As we can see from the state of the works, no design solutions on the organization of drainage and surface runoff have been developed," Olga Kozinskaya believes.
Besides, the Board of Trustees has voiced a lot of claims to the very content of the works carried out at the arboretum.
"The repair of the stairs fails to take into account the requirements concerning restoration of the heritage objects," Olga Kozinskaya has noted. And she continued: "Builders are digging trenches for lighting masts and damaging roots of unique plants of the park."
The Board of Trustees insists that the arboretum needs no artificial lighting at night.
"This is exactly an arboretum, and workers of the park are to comply with the regime in order to preserve flora and fauna. The lighting should be natural. And the artificial lighting will violate the biorhythms of flora and fauna, lead to its degradation, and transform the natural monument into the entertainment park, and that is unacceptable," Olga Kozinskaya has emphasized.
